Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026. This policy explains what Stowage (the website) and Packslip (the companion app) collect, why, and what choices you have. We've tried to write it in plain language rather than boilerplate.

What we collect on the website

Reading Stowage doesn't require an account. If you use the newsletter form on this site, we store the email address you provide so we can send the dispatch you signed up for. On the pages where the form appears, submitting it also sets a small marker in your browser's local storage to confirm you've already subscribed — this stays on your device and isn't sent anywhere.

Like most websites, our server may log basic technical information automatically, such as approximate location by IP address, browser type, and pages visited, for the purpose of keeping the site running and understanding general traffic patterns. We don't use this to build individual profiles of readers.

What Packslip collects

Packslip is built so that your box manifest — the list of boxes, weight classes, and destinations you log — stays on your own device by default. We don't require an account to use the core planning features, and we don't sell or share your manifest data with third parties. If a future version of Packslip adds optional cloud sync, we will describe exactly what that involves before you opt in, and it will remain optional.

Cookies and similar technology

We use minimal, functional storage — for example, remembering that you've already seen the newsletter confirmation message. We don't run third-party advertising trackers on this site.

How we use what we collect

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share your data with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

Your choices

You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any dispatch, or by writing to us directly. You can clear your browser's local storage at any point to remove the marker we set. If you'd like us to delete an email address from our newsletter list, contact us and we'll handle it promptly.

Children

Stowage is a general-audience editorial site and is not directed at children. We don't knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we make a meaningful change to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
